I wanted something simple, crisp and straight to the point. I created and designed this myself. I already see some things that needs to be changed. Before you hit me with all the hard questions, let me first tell you that as of now, the site is not listed with a search engine for people to find it. It`s still in the extreme early stages...Anyway tell me what you think.

Okay, what is the goal of your business model. Was your web site/business inspired to motivate new business`s? How will you market your site? Will the web site, be a success story site for people thinking about business? Will it be a destination to find a vendor? You will have to show prospective business listers the benefits of listing their site for a charge. Maybe screen shots of what they get or the sysytem itself...show where and how the listings will be represented. I think it is great that you want folks to share their success stories in business. You will need though to have a budget for marketing your site, to show prospects that they will be seen on the web. Also, you may want some resources listed on your own site. A different color scheme may be happier then brown. Hiring a designer/developer for a site where you charge a fee is not a bad idea. If you want to do it yourself, you may want to get a good logo and a fresh layout. Good idea, just think about what folks may expect when they are paying for a listing.

First of all, I did not see a place where one could even sign up to list on your site.  There was no "click here to list" link or anything like that.

Also, Stonesledge brings up some great questions about marketing.  If someone lists their site with you, then how are you going to spread the word for them?  How are you getting their business noticed?  You need to explain that.

Your intentions are great but I am not sure they are focused correctly to benefit businesses.  Or if they are, you are not explaining it as well as you could.

I wonder how many startup entrepreneurs have the time to post a blog about their trials and tribulations on someone else`s site? If they`re not already working on their own blog, they`re doing copywriting, Web development, and the thousands of other non-writing chores associated with keeping their business afloat.

I`ll echo StonesLedge---what`s the purpose of this site?

Thanks for your review stonesledge

My goal is to get business owners to list their website so that people who are interested in starting a business can get a little motivation to go through with their dreams from looking at the listed websites .

Website is to inspire others to start their own business.

The website is not a site for success stories.

The website is not a destination to find vendors, but it will bring prospective business to your site.

I’m only charging $7, $1 is going to charity, the rest is for the upkeep and maintenance of the site.

Site will be listed with multiple search engines - I DO HAVE A BUDGET AND PLAN - WOULDN’T BE WITHOUT ONE.

You know I asked for your critique and embraced myself for whatever you had to say and I do appreciate your criticism. It’s comments like these who would put someone down and make them believe that they will never be successful at something that they’ve worked so hard on. Mr. Craig, I’m not going to let your criticism stop me, it only motivates me to prove you wrong. My business is not a waste of someone‘s time. On a website as this, I don’t see how you could fix your fingers to type such negativity. It‘s not a website to post blogs about trials and tribulations. Although, successful business owners do that daily. I see where Startup Nation will be one of them soon. But, I’m going to keep on keeping on, and again Mr. Craig thanks for motivating me.

Thanks again

Stacy...

Like I said, your intentions are honorable.  You want to have a resource of businesses and sites to encourage other entrepreneurs.  That`s great.

But I believe your message is not clear, nor is it understood the value behind the $7 fee (charity donation aside).  Try to look at it from an entrepreneur`s point of view.  There are lots of websites and online resources for people starting businesses, like SuN here.  They are all free or at least offer a great deal of free content.  This "free value" has become a staple of a successful web business.

Simply put, it sounds like you are charging for what entrepreneurs can already get for free.  I think that is what I and the other commenters do not get.

I know you explained that your site is in it`s early stages.  But I would like to encourage you to maybe learn more about creating a successful website before pursuing much more.  That is fine that you do not want to pay a professional to build the site, but be realistic about the limitations of such a decision.

I am creating a web business myself.  I know I can design a great website but I can`t write the code to build one.  I have no technical skills for web development.  I could either learn them or work with someone else, but part of doing it right is knowing how to leverage my limitations and strengths.

I don`t think anyone is trying to put you down, like others who have been honest with you here, I simply don`t get it.  Why should I list my site, let alone give you my money.  What are you going to do for me?  And how?

Give to charity?  Give me a break.  Making donations is a personal matter and I make the decision to whom and how much to donate.  I don`t need to send my money to a website that basically says little more than "send me money".

I did click on "Add", and, where`s the explanation of why I am here?  Where is the Privacy Policy?, what do you plan to do with my information?

Most important, who are you?  No business name anywhere?  No "About Us"?
No way to contact you?

We really are trying to help you be successful, but your site raises far more questions than it answers.
