Hi everyone,
I`d love feedback and critique on the ease of use and SEO regarding my company`s brand new website www.resumayday.com that just went live this morning. Here`s the skinny:
It`s a WordPress site because the information is meant to be updated frequently with ease; WordPress is simple enough for me, not being a designer or tech person. I worked very closely with a designer. In other words, the concept and layout is mine, but I don`t have the chops to turn my ideas into a site.
There are two goals of this site. 1) Call to action - I want people to call and set up a resume consultation. Because of this, I didn`t want a site that was so overdesigned that it would distract or divert someone from calling; crisp and clean is definitely our goal. 2) Keep people informed about my weekly Career Advancement radio show, and other media mentions.

In addition to serving individual clients, we also do a lot of corporate outplacment work. I`d very much appreciate feedback on whether or not this comes across to the viewer. If you were an HR manager about to lay off a department, would this site speak to you?

I sincerely hope I`ve provided enough information for you generous people to take time from your day and send me your ideas. All comments will be received with a thick skin, and in the spirit of this format - offering help and guidance. I truly appreciate the gift of your time and insights!

Thanks James!
I was taken back by your statement, until I saw you were a patent attorney. "Oh, that`s why the fed registration is on his radar!"

I`m going to plead the 5th on this question and will defer it to my own legal team.

First off - love the name, very clever.  I would think from an SEO point of view, you should have your blog feeding on the front page, but I`m not real sure on that.

I`d also like to see a call to action on the home page, "Click here to download 10 Words That Will Lose You a Job" or something like that.

Hello Lauren
I really like the site`s design, the logo and template
It`s very accurate and to the point, also looks very professional
Several things come to mind though
The small link in the bottom "Click here to buy" should be closer to the Cd explanation. It took me a minute to figure out what it applies to
I noticed you use Linkedin and Twitter. My suggestion is if you`re using this to get a better web presence and more incoming links, you should try LookupPage and Naymz as well. Every bit counts
Thirdly, I would include a Contact Us button in the menu
It`s a bit unclear on how to acquire your services and I would make it easier on the user.. you could also put that button in the homepage...
Better yet, allow for the use of a contact form, just for the user`s convenience

All in all, it looks good and professional

The best of luck

Jmes

Thanks Eric! That`s always been in the back of my mind, but your response is just the insipiration I needed to get that going. (From a logistical point of view, I have no idea how to set that up, but I`m sure my designer will.)
Thank you again - Merry Christmas!

Hi James,
Thank you for your thoughtful response!
I had a `contact form` on the old site so I`ll see if we can implement the same. Not sure why that was omitted this time, so you raise an excellent point.
Moving the `click here to buy` is also a great idea. Once I looked at it with your perspective, I completely understand what you mean.

LookupPage and Naymz - I`ve heard of them, but nothing more. I`ll check into them over the next few days.

Thank you very, very much!

All,
Again - thank you so much for your thoughtful responses and the time you took to share your insights with me! I`ve updated the site based on your recommendations and I can honestly say that those changes have made my website even better.
Please let me know if I can ever return the favor of professional advice. Thanks again!
