Hello, my name is Tammy Richardson. My husband John and I created Tape-Seal. It is a uniquely formulated clear acrylic gel brushed onto the edge of painters tape. It seals the tape line, filling the small voids where your paint color would otherwise bleed under. Tape-Seal bleeds under and dries clear. Therefore, when you apply your paint color it won`t bleed under the tape, leaving you with Perfect Paint Lines. With our product name having a hyphen & potential mispellings we found an easy to remember domain name in www.perfectpaintlines.com.
We have a couple of other products for the paint industry that we hope to add in the next 9 - 12 months. We are also considering producing a how-to video for consumers to acheive really cool interior paint results. (If you notice the photo gallery, that is a small sampling of Johns work)
We built our website thru Yahoo! ecommerce. It was actually fairly easy to do. We know that there are lots of things that we could do to fine tune it. We did want to keep the site simple and to the point. "Less is better" seems to be good for this product. One part of the site I am concerned about, is the PHOTO GALLERY page. Does it look OK the way it is set up now? We can`t seem to figure out how to have each image as thumbnails, click on and have it enlarged on that very page. So, we ended up having a bunch of extra pages as a result.
Now, my questions are about SEO, blogging, and social networking/linking. I`ve read up on anything I could find here on SuN related to SEO. For people like John and I it is overwhelming. Due to the way my brain works I feel like I need a book where I can find info quickly by referencing an index (I know, pretty old school). Can someone recommend a book?
For blogging, I`ve heard it is best to have a blog that is not on your website because there is the potential for more cross referencing leading to higher search engine results? If this is the case, where is a good place to start a blog? Then, how do I get the word out about the blog, is there is blogger press release service?
Social networking (is that even the correct term) is another thing I don`t get. Is there an area in SuN, book, or websites you can refer where I can learn more about this? What I know about it is the importance and that I see the icons everywhere but that is about it.
What are your thoughts on hiring this out? My thought is that I could be more productive selling our product than spending 20 - 40 hours trying to figure out the basics, let alone implementing. How much does something like this cost to hire out. Even a range would be good. Even if I could just have someone else set everything up and I maintain it.
Thank you, thank you, thank you in advance for tips and info. I`m almost embarassed to ask all of these questions....but I need the info!
