have you looked into any of the phone answering services? They are generally not too expensive and it provides a very proffesionall face for your company.

As a customer, I prefer to have my call answered by a person who can handle my request then and there.  Short of hiring psychics, though, that`s rarely possible.

I don`t mind a single layer menu if your system has good hunting or call forwarding and can quickly get me to the person I want to reach.  This is one of the things I love about working with or for a small company, because we can do things like that.

If you`re too big for that, or your call volumes are just so high that you need dedicated customer service staff, congratulations!  :D  There are much worse problems to have, especially with today`s economy.  But please, don`t have your automated system ask me for information, and then have the human I finally reach have to ask me all over again.  Either have the person or the computer do it, and then pass it along internally to whoever needs it.

Hello! These posts are slightly out of date, but I thought I could still contribute some useful information to those who are interested in using a telephone answering service.

I work for a small independant company that specialises in tailored answering for start up companies or for larger companies using us as overflow to their switchboard.

I have worked here for over 10 years and have seen for myself the benefits that using a service like ours can have on companies trying to make their way and starting out.

Our operators are very well trained and with most of our staff working here over 5 years, it is a testiment to the kind of company we are. The average length of time an employee stays at an average call centre is 2 and a half months! Our operators take time to get to know each of our client's companies and become familiar with their regular callers, just as a receptionist would in  your own office.

Our rates are competitive and we believe we're a force to be reckoned with, so if if you want to find out more about us please visit www.messagemail.co.uk.

You can also contact me directly on victoria@messagemail.co.uk and I will happily go over your virtual office needs and how we can help your company achieve it's full potential. Don't let your prospective clients go to your voicemail or hear the engaged tone!

I hope this has been helpful

Kind regards.

There are a number of free sites on-line which can be used. Keep in mind sometimes there is no information provided due to the service being free and relying solely on volunteered information, which is obtained from a public database. One of the most extensive free sites is Yellowpages.com; it’s a good website available 24/7, which you can use to do a Reverse Unlisted Phone Numbers.

While this post is slightly out of date but it came up on my recent posts so I see that there has been some recent interaction. If your concern is about not being in the office to answer your phone then a virtual pbx system might be your solution. I actually work at Grasshopper (a virtual PBX provider) and our service includes features like toll free number, call forwarding and voicemail. If anyone questions, let me know. Hope this was of help!

I forward mine to my cell.  If I don't answer and they don't leave a message then I call them back from the office phone saying I noticed I missed a call from their number.

We use atomatic answering machine at our office to handle all phone calls. Only those call forwarded to CS executive for which customer has selected option to talk personally. I am really happy with my system as it works fine and cheap too.
