I appreciate the fact, that you put in some serious time and used some language straight from the U.F.O.C papers written by Subway corporate.I doubt Rich`s friend`s sister

would agree with you that, a Subway owner with 4 stores grossing $8000.00 per week each, will be earning $320,000 a year income.A sub shop operating in normal conditions today doing $8000.00 is marginally profitable with it being owner operated never mind, absentee.

I don`t about Subway, but my sister and brother-in-law own a single Quizno`s store and they are losing their shirts. They took out a second mortgage on their house, cleaned out their life savings, and are now working other jobs to compensate for the monthly losses at Quizno`s. They are moving backwards in every respect.

When my brother-in-law first had the idea to buy a Quizno`s franchise, everyone in the family, including my sister (his wife), and all their friends advised against it - and none of those people ever owned a restaurant before.

It seems to me opening a restaurant of any kind must be one of the riskiest ventures one could undertake.  Even if you succeed, it is a huge amount of effort for releatively little reward.

Isn`t it common knowledge that it is extrememly difficult to succeed in the restaurant business?

Kregg,

Thanks for the validation.Quiznos -Subway same animal, different name.If possible can you have your brother-in-law contact me I would like to speak with him about an article I am writing on the topic. The truth is you have a better shot at losing your shirt then earning $80,000 per year from a sub shop franchise.

My brother-in-law who owns the Quizno`s franchise is considering adding home delivery service. He has distributed flyers advertsing the new service in the local residential communities around the store but I`m not sure if there has been any significant uptake in business as a result. Have any other sandwich franchisees tried this approach? If so, what were the results?

Does anyone who has run a business like Quizno`s have any other marketing ideas that might help him to increase patronage? He is really struggling right now despite what appears to be a promising location in a shopping mall with heavy foot traffic and lots of businesses near by.

Any help I can pass on to him would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Kregg

I don`t know the answer but I can`t think of any reason why you coudn`t. I suggest you read the franchise contract you have with Subway. Look for what is commonly called a non-compete clause or anything that refers to limitations related to owning a another sandwich franchise.
