I haven`t tracked this thread for a while. Actually I haven`t been on SUN for a while...been busy working on my stuff.
Here is my 2 cents.
1. The amount of money is too small for VC`s to be interested. Keep in mind, they spend the same amount of time and energy on any investment, whether it is 100K or 10M. Even if your venture hits a home run, it makes a few million for them. For a VC with a portfolio with 100`s of M`s to B`s, that`s not interesting enough.
2. Your best bet is to find angels - rich individuals (or group of individuals) who have spare money and they don`t mind losing - and families and friends.
3. It is difficult to ask for money. So instead, ask for advise first. Talk to the people you know, simply say "I have this idea and business plan, I want to askk for your advise". Talk through it. If the other person think you have a good plan, ask him to be an advisor for your business (so he has some vested interest). Then, at some point, bring up "I will appreciate help if you can help me to find funding". If he has some money to spare and want to invest in your biz, he will. If he doesn`t have the money, he can still talk to his network and help you.
4. It is always hard to find money when you don`t need it. Don`t get discouraged.
