Question.  I am going to be focusing on wholesale sales only this year and only accepting payments by check, or direct transfer of funds for the time being.  Would a catalog, just photos, descriptions and such with prices and a form they would fill out to be contacted still entice people to call or make a purchase?

I would never send someone I didn`t trust a check or direct transfer of funds. That sounds like a scam and I would have zero way to recover my losses. Why aren`t you willing to accept Paypal / Google Checkout?

They would have the option of paypal, western union also.  I will be adding online shopping for this in June.  If I put that on the site would that help.  I am going to be doing business abroad quite a bit wholesale and it would be easier to do a bank transfer.

We use PrestoSell and only accept PayPal. People don`t seem to have a problem with it at all.

I agree that "only checks" would not be a good way to go.

People like some sort of buyer protection on unknown sites.

Paypal holds the money and not all my vendors accept paypal.  My overseas vendor will not.  They will only accept western union or bank transfer, so Paypal wont work for my overseas vendor purchases.  I will have a merchant account in July.  I worked for wholesalers for a time and they did not accept paypal for anything outside the USA, and preferred bank transfers.

I own a retail website and I have to say I have a few vendors that I would like to order from, but don`t because they only accept checks and do phone ordering....it is a turnoff for me for so many reasons..I hate writing checks, I like having all of my wholesale purchased on one card so it is easy to track...I like to have a paper trail of my orders for easier tracking..I deal with 30 different vendors and to do orders by phone would really be a pain....and security is the most major issue I would have....if I pay be credit card through a secured site it is a heck of a lot safer than calling in a phone order and mailing in a check......
