Hello fellow SuNsters....

Here is  whats bugging me. In my younger years (not that longer ago, I`m only 31) I would take up a project and just jump in. I found I had Great Success under pressure and for the most part my "gut" feelings are right on. But don`t get me wrong as there have been errors. Lucky for me none have been anywhere near deal killers. Destroy a few feet of media. Foul up some prints. Don`t save, lose a few hours work. Nothing that doesn`t happen to some graphic designer/art guy every day.

Now that I have a Family and I`m Planning my own Business (and my future) I find my self spending more time contemplating my moves then I actually spend making them... We all know there is NO tell all book on "how to be successful in business". If there were we would all be having dinner next to Trump and Billy Gates. My question to you all is; When do you stop thinking about which way is best and JUST DO IT? Is my being afraid to make a mistake keeping me from making any progress? Or should I just keep on doing what I`m doing and let the "Slow and steady" theory work its course...

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated!

Hey OADesign:

Why ask?  You have to remain real and do what you do when you want to do it... There is no magic pill to get you to your 10th year of successful business operation without the hard work, persistent and consistent effort you have just begun....  And there is no one that can better understand your concerns than you (who knows them as intimately here?).  Cautiousness and planning is not a bad thing until you KNOW when YOU CAN take a risk, flyer or chance.  I feel your pain, I am also starting a business with TWO kids in college... But you gotta grow at your speed... Keep your heart and mind open while doing your thing and keep your head to the sky... I know, kinda cliche... but hard enough to do while making sure your other responsibilities/committments are met..,.New Father, husband, provider and MULE! (LOL!)

But, that is the job... I wish you well and hope your comfort levels grow as you do... And you will my friend whenever you place yout family`s and clients` well-being before your own... THAT is enough to do as a new father because you have to feed your self as well... Heeyah MULE!!!   ROFLM_O   Best wishes...

I am only going to say one thing: I am in the same boat and completely understand what you are going through. The same thing happens to me (I am 38, by the way).
I have this idea that is taking me years to get started...and I mean, years. And I am not talking about this major high tech company...it is a very basic company that requires no technical expertise. But for whatever reason, I just can`t get myself to get it started...call it procrastination.

In any case, it hit me that the years are passing by, I am getting older and the changes of striking it rich working for someone else are very, very small.

My advice: stop studying and start working on your dreams. It will take long, but at some point we have to give the first step. Without the first step, your journey won`t begin!

ps. I realized my reply sounds a little cheesy, but I don`t feel like changing it now!
