my family started playing simpson`s hit & run on gamecube this week in preparation for the movie release, and driving through mr. burns power plant has me wondering what all that green goo is leaking all over the place. so i`m starting to learn about how a nuclear power plant produces energy. turns out it is just like any other power plant, it uses heat from nuclear fission reactions to convert water to steam, to produce stream to drive turbines to generate electricity. cool. i love learning

I don`t know, but after learning about how nuclear fission works, I`d assume it`s suppossed to be toxic water used for colling the reaction of the nuclear fission. I`m just not sure if they are using Uranium or Plutonium in the reactor.

Yesterday I had Homer driving the school bus and managed to get it stuck on it`s front wheels for a few minutes, just doing a reverse wheelie, while it was wedged between a crashed car and a brick wall. super funny.

what business lessons can we learn from Mr. Burns and Kwik-E-Mart Apu?

If you think about it, a nuclear reactor is basically a steam engine. Instead of using coal and fire, it uses natural heat coming out of radioactive decay. People think that somehow, radiation produces electricity in and of itself.

The big problem isn`t the heated water, it`s what to do with the spent rods of radioactive material itself. In other words, the water isn`t radioactive, it`s the materials used to heat the water. That`s somewhat similar to what to do with the barbeque ashes when the fire`s out.

The green goo is probably an alien life form, attracted to all nuclear reactors. It doesn`t have a particular shape, has limited intelligence, and thrives on eating both concrete and radioactive materials. In a pinch, it eats people or animals, or small fish. The spores arrive embedded in moon rocks, meteorites, and cosmic dust. We just don`t see it much, except in dark leaky basements with concrete walls.

Upon further consideration, I think the green goo is actually Slurm

If I remember correctly, Slurm is indeed green.

Steve,

So what did you think of the movie? Yesterday, I took my husband`s neices (ages 7 and 10) and nephew (age 29) to see it and we all enjoyed it tremendously.
