Happy eBay Live Eve

Hi gang, Well, it’s that time of year again – eBay Live – Chicago. I remember my first eBay Live very well. It was in New Orleans several years ago, back when I was but a guppy in the seller bowl. What I remember the most about N.O. Live was that it was a freak [...]

Apple Iphone 3G Announced and eBay Bans Pre-Sales and Limits Sales

Bah, humbug,  eBay.

I especially like the Paypal only requirement.  That was a nice touch.

The Iphone 3G might be the hottest gadget all year.   For a company who wants to become the “new, in season” merchant of choice, please explain to me how these restrictions fall under that goal.

Hi gang, I am an Iphone freak – had it since it came out and you will have to pry it from my cold, dead hands.   It sleeps gently next to me and my wife on an 800 thread count satin pillow at night (kidding! … ? ). So I did the happy dance when Steve [...]

Internet Retailer Conference 2008 – Caught In The Web

Hi gang, Large eBay sellers are spending a lot of time these days developing other sales channels, and I am certainly no exception. Multichannel commerce is the way to go for an online seller. Our latest effort, http://inflatablemadnessdvd.com has been very rewarding to create, and now the challenge is to get some bidness out of [...]

My Answer To All The eBay Changes? Inflatablemadnessdvd.com!

Hi gang, Yeah,  eBay has been a tough marriage the last few years for us.   First they jack up my Store insertion fees 150%, then they institute undocumented policies concerning the feedback system and we almost get kicked off the site (neutrals are now negatives!),  then they announce fee structure changes that actually RAISE our [...]

eBay partners with Buy.com, gives large sellers the finger

Hi gang, It’s being widely reported this weekend that eBay has entered into a partnership with Buy.com to allow Buy.com to sell lots and lots of product on eBay.com.   As of this moment,  Buy.com has over 140,000 3-day listings active on the site.  In April Buy.com did roughly $700,000 in sales on eBay. The Power of eBay Live!

Last week I asked my readers to join the discussion and comment on what they thought of eBay Live, and if they were planning to attend this year. Here’s my two cents: eBay Live is extremely worth your while. Its a crazy three and a half days, and you may get a little exhausted or [...]

How to REALLY make money with your eBay business

After speaking at eBay’s annual convention and training event eBay Live last June, one thing became very clear to me… So many eBay sellers had blinders on when it came to what was really going on with their eBay business. As an entrepreneur selling on eBay, you tend to have this deep urge to see [...]

Start an eBay business, don’t miss the Express

You probably know we’re into eBay; it helps people start up their own businesses every day – we’ve appeared at consecutive eBay Live events and hosted online seminars on how to start an eBay business. So why is today the day to think again about starting it up as an eBayer? How about eBay Express [...]

I”ll Tell Two People and They”ll Tell Two People

Brandi, who sells big and tall men’s clothing, was an inspiring guest on the StartupNation radio show talking about her EBay store. My fellow blogger, Joel, also wrote about how she created her company so she could spend more time with her son. But something else struck me about her story. I couldn’t help repeating [...]

An eBay Businesswoman Takes Care of Her Son

One of my favorite “start your own business stories” is of Brandi Ramos in southern Illinois. An army veteran, single mom with an autistic son, Brandi was motivated to start an eBay business so that she could earn a living while spending time at home with her son. But what to sell? She simply started [...]

eBay Live! update

Well, folks, if you were ever wondering whether eBay is still in fashion, we can assure you that it is–more than ever! Our most recent Success in the US tour stop was in San Jose where eBay threw a half-week-long eBay jamboree called eBay Live. About 11,000 bright-eyed, semi-costumed (some might say ‘crazed’) eBay enthusiasts [...]
