Say hello to Cheryl Tallman

We’re excited to welcome Cheryl Tallman as a guest blogger on StartupNation, she’ll be contributing regularly to add her perspectives as a successful Mompreneur – here’s a brief bio for our newest blog team member:

Cheryl is an ambitious and versatile executive and entrepreneur with proven abilities in building and managing all aspects of business. Her experience is supported by founding two businesses, Fresh Baby and Touchscreen Media Group (Touchscreen) and building them into successful organizations.

Fresh Baby is a socially and environmentally responsible business focused on preventing childhood obesity by providing parents with tools and information to successfully develop their children’s healthy eating habits from the very beginning. Selected by Entrepreneur Magazine as a “Hot Company to Watch”, Fresh Baby is re-inventing natural parenting, by shedding the “hippie” stereotypes and appealing to the mainstream desire for earth-friendliness with convenience. The company’s business is profiled as a “Super Start Up” in StartupNation: Open For Business, a book by business experts, Rich and Jeff Sloan.

Currently, Fresh Baby is expanding their retail presence, building their consumer brand, and establishing professionally recognized expertise in feeding young children and recipe development.

Cheryl also founded Touchscreen as an interactive agency creating CD-ROMs and kiosks for marketing communications programs and entertainment products. At Touchscreen, Cheryl held positions of Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer. The company focused on cultivating a blue chip client base and experienced more than 50% repeat business. Touchscreen was recognized with numerous awards for innovation, design and project management expertise. With Cheryl’s vision, the company successfully transitioned their focus to Internet development and then added Internet strategy consulting. The company consistently grew annual revenues and profitability to $3.5 Million in sales and a net income of 12%. The organization employed over 30 professionals. In 1999, Touchscreen was acquired by Computer Technology Associates (Rockville, MD).

Cheryl began her professional career at IBM, where she held positions in international sales and consulting.

Cheryl received a BSE in Biomedical Engineering from The Catholic University of America, and completed post-graduate work in the same field. Cheryl has been a guest speaker for Toy Fair, The Interactive Marketing Association, and the Association of Interactive Media. She has been a guest instructor at the Baruch College of Business. Cheryl is also the author of So Easy Baby Food, the Fresh Ideas newsletter, and a contributing writer and parenting expert on major web sites, including DrLaura.com, eDiets.com, About.com, Storknet.com, and many others.

Cheryl is married to Roger and the mother of Spencer, 5. She enjoys living in beautiful Petoskey, Michigan.
