Infosys Technologies entrepreneur sticks to his own rules

There are many things to be impressed about by people who start and grow their own business. There is a unique success story in the news today about the co-founder of Infosys Technologies, India’s powerfully successful Consulting and IT Services company. N.R. Narayana Murthy, the entrepreneur who says he starts every day by cleaning the toilet in his house in a middle-class neighborhood of Bangalore, India, steps down because that’s the rule at Infosys. Mandatory retirement at age 60.

To run a successful small business, you have got to stick to your own rules. But the important part of this is to make good rules in the first place. When you run your own company you get to make the rules. So you’d better be certain you’re making good ones!

Based on the global success of Infosys, it seems that Mr. Murthy made some nice rules. How do you start? Are they in your business plan? Do you have a life plan?
