Not sure if anyone is familiar with this site yet - it is definitely worth checking out, www.squidoo.com.

Seems like a great channel to get your brand out there and noticed by others.  Oh, and did I mention that it is FREE.  I just started learning how it works, you can go to www.squidoo.com/snoloha for an example of the "lens" that I have built for my company.

I believe the concept is the brainchild of Seth Godin.  The jury`s still out, but I kind of like it so far.

Let me know your thoughts...

Hi, SnoMan ~

I found out about Squidoo about a month ago and built a lens there as well.

You can view it at http://www.squidoo.com/crosscountry/

I`m still trying to figure out how to use a few more of the modules to optimize the benefits of advertising.

The traffic is picking up to it and so far, so good.

Hey SnoMan,

Thanks for this tip, I`d never heard of Squidoo before you mentioned it. I`ve just finished creating my first lens. Seemed pretty straight forward!

Just had to chime in...

I discovered Squidoo after attending a Seth Godin webinar. Squidoo is fabulous! It`s a great resource for the average person searching for information about a specific topic, and it`s also a great self-promotion tool for businesses, educators, and anyone else who wants to spread their information to the public.

My company has two lenses, and we are in the process of creating more. The lenses have really helped us focus on specific products we offer, and give some useful info to our target audience. In addition, having Squidoo lenses has boosted our SEO rankings considerably, in a very short period of time.

Our lenses, if you care to check them out, are:

http://www.squidoo.com/MarcomAndPOP
(this is more of an overview on our product selection)

http://www.squidoo.com/shelftalkers
(this zeroes in on our shelf talker offerings)

Lens building is free, easy, and a fabulous tool to get your name out there. We try not to be too self-serving, and provide useful tools to help prospective customers make decisions.

The only downside is that, in order to maintain high rankings within Squidoo,  you need to keep lenses fresh by adding content on a regular basis. Finding time to do one more SEO thing is a challenge, but well worth it!

I found Squidoo through Seth Godin as well ... from reading one of his eBooks.

I`ve set up a few lenses just to play with the system, you can find them here:

I do agree with the above post that in order to gain popularity, you have to be a prolific poster. I am not, because of my specific targeting goals, but at least I do know how to do it and that was the purpose of the exercise.

As a marketing tool, there are a few options ... making one about your business, making a personal one, or making one about a topic you have knowledge of. All increase your traffic back to you, the author.

My only regret is not know how the naming system worked when I made the first one ... so one URL has a good name and the other does not! You have to start somewhere though, eh?

I`d highly recommend some of his eBooks ... like this one, Everyone`s an Expert.
You can also Google "seth godin ebook" to find some others.
