I am currently seeking a group of investors to assist in a large project located in Chicago. The project will see a strong 2-2.25 year return with the life-span of over 7 years.  I am working on this with a former Chicago Bears player who will assist us in a large portion of the marketing.

The project has a great amount of potential and we are looking to brand it in multiple trendy sports cities, like Boston, within 2 years.

I have over 8 years experience in the industry, a location scouted with a great lease, worldclass design team, and all to tools in place to be a great success, we just now need the funding to get it started.  Any idea how to get in front of some investors?

Just like you lined up the required resources to launch this new restaurant, you will need to formulate a viable strategy for securing the required funding.

With that being said, you may want to review one of my other posts here on SUN, where detailed the primary funding resources for entrepreneurs and offered some insights into how to research, connect, and close them as investors in restricted securities offerings.

This post is available at http://www.startupnation.com/The-real-question-/topic/.

It sounds like you already have some vital elements in place, so you should address your capital market strategy next. What kind of capital requirements are you looking at?

Restaurants are still considered one of the riskiest businesses out there. Six out of ten usually don’t live to celebrate their first year anniversary. The current economic climate with its steep cutbacks on discretionary spending certainly won’t help.

Depending on your overall capital requirements I would recommend looking for investors that have some sort of affinity with the hospitality arena. You’re already working with a sports celebrity; maybe this can be turned into a stepping stone for you to market your offering to other players.

You may want to take a look at our white paper “How to reach High-Net-Worth Individuals with your Restricted Securities Offering”. The paper is available at  http://publications.fastventures.com/reaching-high-net-worth-individuals-with-your-private-placement

It’s a solid action plan that we developed based on our own experiences during the capital formation phase of two of our private equity funds. It includes unique research techniques, details proven communication- and negotiating strategies, and even includes sample marketing material.

If you’re interested in discussing your project in greater detail, please feel free to send me a PM and I will try to give you a few additional pointers.

I hope this helps. Good luck!
