My husband is a truck driver and we live in an oil boom area.  We would like to get our own semi truck and get out there to make the kind of money we`re seeing other people make. We both have plenty of experience, but can`t get off the ground because of financing.

That is the most common issue amongst entrepreneurs. It should be easier for people with experience to have their own businesses, so they can be less reliant on corporations. What have you and your husband done thus far?

We have contacted financial institutes from the internet who have put us in contact with other financers.  I have also called a lot of the truck lots to see if they have financing available, but we have had a bankruptcy in our past so credit is an issue.  One of them has a truck for us, but it`s not complete with everything we need and we have to pick it up in Minnesota.  We are in Wyoming and would have to miss too much work to go there and the cost of diesel would be a lot to get it back.  We`re working now mostly with repos because they`re easier to get into, but no luck so far. We just want to make a better life for ourselves and we`re very responsible people that have had some uncontrollable things happen in the past and are trying to fix them.

I do not know if you tried prosper.com, but I would give it a try. This may give you a start. Raising money can be difficult, but there are many ways to do it without going into debt.
