What type of site would you create?

I already have an e commerce art site but I was looking into niche focused sites. Tried searching for a domain dealing with dog pop art. None that I wanted were available but one of the suggestions caught my eye and every time I told someone they cracked up.

It was PopArtDogFart.com and now I am the proud (?) owner of the domain. It`s a little crude and I can`t picture answering the phone with that name but it is hard to forget and who could resist clicking to see what it was.

My plans were to do custom art of your dog as Pop Art....along the same line as my current site www.YourArtisticSide.com . After some more thought I wondered if it could be something to generate more traffic than just a single product site.

Anyone have some ideas for a content, affiliate, blog (I`m still not sure how they differ from a forum....duh!) or other ideas? Feel free to Have at it!

Still haven`t come to grips with "Hi....This is Deck with PopArtDogFart.com "  ;^)

Pure coincidence, but I worked in an office alongside the sister of the guy who created that cartoon of the dog farting a bubblegum bubble. I was stunned at the amount of money that came in through the many permutations of that single image.

I would agree that although the new domain isn`t "professional" sounding, so what? It`s funny, captures the attention, and it`s a sideline of the more professional site. Think of all the authors who write under pseudonyms? Often, it`s only long after the author has achieved fame that people learn of the other name. Stephen King and Richard Bachman come to mind.

In that case, Bachman`s story about a poster became "The Shawshank Rebellion," standing on its own. Did it happen *because* King was already well known and rich? Or would that have happened independently? Who knows.

What I think is even more interesting is the idea of pet pop-art. Does that mean charicatures of someone`s dog (or cat)? If so, you`re going to have to very quickly connect the person who clicks the domain name to exactly what it is you`re offering. And that means within 2 seconds. If you can do that, I think it`d work....mostly just because of the humor.

 Thanks for the responses everyone.

I want to make it clear that this will not be connected to the current business.

Your response, BrandAlchemy , was the same response I had at first, but for some reason it stuck in the back of my mind even though the "F" word is not something I use in everyday conversation. As I whisperedEmbarrassed the name to others, the response was more positive than I thought and not easily forgotten, so I decided to go ahead and get it.

It is brazen and unprofessional but that is somewhat the point......although I certainly do not want to contribute to the downfall of our " Politically Correct on one hand, anything goes on the other hand" society.

This may be my alter ego trying to get out. I am after all a liberal/conservative, introverted extrovert!

CraigL, the cartoon idea is one idea that I thought might work or at least what I would call "Attitude Art". Not necessarily Gross or crude just attitude. Even though the site is not up you can see an example of what I`m thinking. I could sell these designs in various forms....Posters, T shirts and such.

This way I would not have to re invent the wheel with each order. You can only do so much custom work, whereas I could print standard designs all day long....guess I could offer custom too at a premium price.

I appreciate the input and any ideas for consideration. I have left this site alone while I debate the possibilities. (And the grossness of the name) LOL!

Looks like as far as the name goes we have one No Way, one Funny but Questionable and one Funny...It could Work!
