So I am driving through my hometown today, and I pass an apartment complex looking for renters. Now you have to understand, my hometown has a year-round temperature range of about 50-95 degrees F. And this apartment building has a huge banner, nearly one story tall, that says:

FREE HEAT!

Yeah, that`ll really pack them in ...

A few blocks later, I passed my old high school. It had a sign on it that said

California Distinguished School, 2001

Seeing on how it`s 2007, that doesn`t seem like the best advertising. What the heck happened between 2002 and now? It kind of reminds me when some 40yo guy is telling you about his glory days as quarterback of the high school team - nothing more recent to report!

Anyone else see some good ones lately?

How about banks that have a big, concrete statement on the the face of the building: "In business since 2003." :-) Man...with THAT kind of longevity, I sure do have a sense of trust and well-being about storing my money there, that`s fer sure.

You may be a tad too young to remember, but the US Dollar used to say "Backed by Gold". If anybody anywhere in the world wanted to trade that US government bill for gold the US had enough reserves to do that with each and every dollar bill it had ever issued. In 1975 the Dollar was allowed to `float` against other currencies and since the government has issued more dollars than it could possibly ever convert. So now it reads "In God we Trust" it means "in God we trust that not everybody will attempt to convert these bills for gold at the same time, because if they do we are up the creek" The total amount of gold in Fort Knox is worth about 100 billion, clearly most would be left with useless paper on hand...

Thoughts like this makes me believe that in the not too distant future companies like e-gold.com will be big, very very big.
