More about me:
My name is Lisa Nguyen. I am an attorney, and I am an entrepreneur. If you are one, you know it. We tend to flock together, feeding on each other's energy. We talk, exchange ideas, DREAM BIG! We are positive and happy people. That's why I like advising startups. It takes guts to start a business, and dedication to make it succeed. I get to take part in people's dreams and help make them come true.
My first business was when I was in middle school. Every morning, I walked 15 minutes down my street to the corner so I could catch my school bus. There was a candy truck stationed there run by a skinny asian man with a bad attitude. Kids would line up to buy candy and he would rush us to "hurry up and pick!". I would buy jolly ranchers for a nickle and blow pops for a dime and sell them for twice as much at school. I never made any money because I ate all the profit, but hey, at least I got free candy.
When I was a junior in high school, I got voted president of my entrepreneur class. I still remember the name I chose for our compay, "Love Potions". The company's mission was to profit on the upcoming Valentine's Day. We offered carnations, roses, balloons and candy-grams for sale to be delivered on Valentines Day. I remember issuing $3 dividends for each share at the end of the semester.
So that laid the groundwork for years of ideas, triumphs and failures to come. Over the years, I've started a T-shirt company, ran a tutoring service, day-traded and started a consulting company. My latest venture took me to California, where I bought into an Integrated Marketing Communications Company. Oh yeah, I also run my own law practice.
As a small business owner and serial entrepreneur, I am quite sympathetic to the plight of the "American Dreamer". I have gone through the hardships of small business ownership and experienced the elation of success. I am dedicated to helping startups and business owners succeed in living the dream.
