Rich Sloan welcomes back Sam Carpenter, author of “Work the System: The simple mechanics of working less and making more.”
In this episode, Carpenter focuses in on how to get the most out of people you hire or work with. He says, out with the hourly wage and in with incentive-based compensation based on performance.
And here’s a shocker. One of Carpenter’s cardinal rules is to do drug testing on anyone and everyone who works for your company. While employees being tanked up on a thick latte is just fine, like the big companies know, drugs and being effective in business don’t mix.
Carpenter also stresses dropping useless efforts. Once you document your business effectively (as discussed in our previous episode with Carpenter), you quickly discover what’s not valuable and what distracts you from the most important and productive work.
Today Carpenter owns a company called Centratel, but spends only two hours a week running the business. And yes, he makes more today than ever before…
