Sloan Brothers – ‘National Startup Company Experts’ Presenting Keynote at the 2006 Sarasota / Manatee Technology Conference

Sarasota , Fl, June 1, 2006 – Jeff and Rich Sloan, national business experts on everything ‘startup’ will be presenting the keynote address at the 2006 Sarasota / Manatee Technology Conference : Integration at the Crossroads on August 31, 2006 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Sarasota . Coordinated by The Young Technology Alliance , the conference will focus on how businesses within the Gulf Coast region and around the world integrate technology to improve efficiency, processes and sales.

Jeff and Rich Sloan have made several television appearances on TV stations like CNN and Fox to share their expertise on building and growing startup companies. They also host a nationally-syndicated weekly radio program, StartupNation Radio, and are the authors of “StartupNation: Open for Business” . After creating dozens of successful companies, the business-savvy brothers founded StartupNation to help other entrepreneurs achieve their dreams of owning their own business. Through StartupNation's events, broadcasts and interactive Web site, entrepreneurs gain advice from a variety of experts and peers who've turned their business dreams into profitable realities. The Sloans are frequent guest lecturers at leading business schools and regularly appear in national print and broadcast mediums.

Jeff and Rich have been involved in entrepreneurship all their lives. As teenagers, they bought and sold HUD houses. As young adults, they started and sold one of the world's leading Arabian horse breeding operations, and bought, grew and sold a consumer products import company. They went on to invent patented products that were licensed and commercialized by Fortune 500 companies (including the Battery Buddy ®, which prevents car batteries from dying). The Sloan brothers’ enthusiasm for startup companies led them to create Sloan Ventures in the mid-90's. This early-stage venture development and financing firm focuses on creating business plans, recruiting entrepreneurial management and raising startup capital for technology-based businesses. Sloan Ventures has infused over $60 million in financing into fast-growing technology companies.

The Sloans said they are thrilled to participate in the first Gulf Coast technology conference, especially since this business region is one of the fastest growing in the country. They noted the vital role technology will play in business success and growth across the board. Rich Sloan, StartupNation, co-founder explained, “Technology levels the playing field for businesses of all sizes. It's the game changer - the single most significant enabler for startups today. Many technologies are making it possible for small businesses to act big, while maintaining the flexibility and innovative qualities inherent to being small."
