I am thinking of starting a local business (franchise type) in my area with a new company headquartered in San Diego called www.freegashelp.com. They have gotten some significant press lately, largely due to the fact that people and companies are very conscious of the increasing price of gas.

Can anyone comment on this operation and whether or not their franchise "offer" is a good one and whether or not it could be a successful business model?

Thanks!

Mike,

Can you give a quick overview of what they do.  I have not heard of them before but I am assuming they are not giving gas away for free.

Hi Erik

Essentially, companies buy advertising of signage on individual and company fleet vehicles...door magnets, rear window stencils etc. The advertisers also receive free gas cards and any individual who agrees to place the signage on their vehicles, gets free gas cards. company fleets that agree to use the signage also receive free gas cards, based on how many trucks they place signs on etc. basically it`s a `moving billboard` advertising company but with the added benefit of helping people save $$ on gas.

does that clarify?

I have heard of this (San Jose, CA) but have not investigated
the situation. I would be interested in it as well.

I`ve just looked into it and submitted an e-mail asking for more information regarding what options are available to advertisers. On the surface it looks very appealing to those who want to carry the signs but it`s all very vague for anyone willing to advertise.

I`ll let you know how they handle my inquiry. That will give me a good impression of their methods and how they are equipped to handle things.

I`ll have to say that the website could look a little more refined. After all, it`s all about advertising.

I have been talking to them and they seem to be professional and `on the ball` etc. I think you`ll get more specifics on choices advertisers have when you contact them. I agree about the website. I think the business idea has some real possibilities but there are ofcourse always the unknowns, especially since they`ve only been at this since January.

Let me know what your impressions are after contact.

Can I get one of those signs for my car?   Hell, I`ll put it on there for a free tank of gas once a year...LOL

Great idea.

I agree! depending on where you are located, there may or may not be a franchise in your area yet...www.freegashelp.com.
