Last year I opened a small business, a cleaning service on residential houses. But we have a problem to deliver flyers around subdivisions. I have a few warnings from subdivisions, and they said it is not legal to deliver flyers the way I did, but I need some good ideas how to do that legally and without any problem. Sorry for my not good laungauge and my incorrect grammar, but I hope you undrestood my question. Thanks.

As long as you don`t stuff them in mailboxes you should be fine.  The USPS will fine you if you do that.

Maybe you can knock on doors and hand them to the residents personally?

Does the subdivsions have a clubhouse you can place your info on the board. Find out who is the manager and make an appointment for lunch to ask to put it up or even better, if they have a newsletter for the community you may be able to list in there. Supermarkets usually have a board, companies have boards or lunch areas, commuter lots.

Can you afford a direct mail campaign? From what Cartess has written, it`s a lot cheaper than I`d thought, and looks like a really fine way to get some good results. Particularly since you can target people. Even a postcard would help.

I recently saw a very clever idea, coming from a pizza place around here. Technology allows us to now put a plastic magnet on a strip of paper, where the magnet`s so thin it feels like part of the paper. The pizza place sent out a standard coupon advertisement, with a wide magnet at the top. It`s a no-brainer to stick on the fridge, and it shows all the deals. The rest of the "strip" is paper so the coupons can be cut off.

Magnets end up on the fridge, so why not send out your business card as a fridge-magnet?

Do you know who the paper delivery person is in the neighborhood? You might be able to work something out with them and get you flyers rolled with the papers?? Just a thought.

Good Luck.

One way to do it is ask your existing clients if they minded if you contacted their neighbor to see if they would like to take advantageof your services like they do.

Go to rRal Estate offices and Apartment Management offices in your community.  If you have good referrals, a nice professional card or brochure, they may recommend you.  Offer move in/out specials and coupons for Real Estate contacts.  Real Estate agents are always looking for ways to add incentives to promote their business.  I happen to know someone who started out this way and ended up partnering with the Real Estate company for vacation rentals.  This opened up an entirely new business avenue for both of them and is very lucritive.

Another idea might be specials for clean up after construction crews, remodeling or roofing.  Network instead of door to door, mailbox to mailbox.  With today`s safety issues, no one want to hire off the street.  Build clients by word of mouth and loyalty.
