Hi Trudy:

Trying to market a home-based online businesss is tough. Your product/
services seem a bit broad, but seem to have a common denominator of
personal services. Your efforts to get pay-per-click success are often
difficult at best, because it`s hard (ie expensive) to drive enough
electronic traffic to a site from other busy ones.

On a seperate direction have you tried grassroots marketing in local
shops, restaurants, etc that might attract clientel similar to your own?

Let us know what you`ve tried and to what extent - I`m sure there`s others
with similar experiences that could help.

Best Regards

Hi Trudy,

Do you have a newsletter or blog?  You could create an article each week or month that ties in with one of your products.

Hi Trudy,

A Market analization is needed.

How much do you sell your products for?

Can people purchase like products and services elsewhere?

How do your prices compare?

What about convenience for purchase,  can someone go to the corner store and get something comparable?  when I say comparable, I mean as they perceives it.  you could have the greatest products in the world but it isn`t veiwed that way  it doens`t mean anything.

Your business sounds like a network marketing type business and I love the concept,  and I mean I really love the concept, but if it doesn`t offer a competitive advantage over the alternatives  then you may be chasing dead money.

Whats gone is gone.  Re-analyze your opportunity very objectively and if you still feel it has what it takes, then reassess your options on how to create a successful situation.

You may have noticed I haven`t given you any detailed direction for future marketing efforts yet because I don`t think your ready for them yet.  It sounds like someone presented something to you that sounded like you could develop an income from,  and I`m willing to bet they made it sound like you were going to make the big bucks from it,   The reason why I`m going in this direction is because I really want you to look at your program.  Your sentence...

I have spent several thousand dollars and would like to make it work or at get some of my money back that i have lost.

makes me wonder if your looking at the program in the wrong light and the lack of responses in the last week also troubles me,

Lastly  Bill tried to get more info, in an effort to give more specific suggestions but you hadn`t even responded back yet, or at least not on the thread.  This is your post, if you want help  you have to nurture  this baby, I knew there are many experienced people more than willing to help, you just have to be serious about receiving it.

Hi, I was doing research on ebay and cant find any products that are more than what wholesale costs would be. I am looking for a market that is affordable for under $1,000 startup. I was suggested to look into...

Energy and Health and Crafts and Scrapbooking

I had an idea about a Magazine subscription site "this one I like the most"

I dont see any of these markets bringing actual profits on ebay. Do they sell well off ebay? I want to start but afraid to as you cant even make a profit off the bay. Any help would be great.

I cannot make a profit from eBay. But I sell a different type of product. On
the other hand I am sure there are some scrapbooking people here that
would probably say... "The market is saturated." I am not saying there isn`t
money to be made. I am just saying that what ever business you start,
behind the curve of demand, will put you at a disadvantage. I started
thinking I could sell products on eBay. Hell... Everyone else is. Then I quickly
learned. I can`t make much of a profit selling the same stuff, because
everyone else is. Of course I could jump in with them, but undercutting
everyone is not how you make friends. The markup is already so low I am
not sure how many are doing it now.

Our approach was different in that we almost immediately realized and found out by talking with folks, that you have to have a niche. Whether it`s eBay or a physical flea market, or any kind of other store, it comes down to differentiation.

You can make money through eBay, but you have to have a wrap on a particular niche. Then you get a following, and people know where to go if they`re looking for preserved butterflies from the lower Patagonian delta.

Rather than selling a magazine subscription, what about starting a magazine yourself? Same concept, though, where you`d have to be different. In a global market, the level of competition changes. There are experts and stars "somewhere" in the world, but now with the Interent they become available. When starting a business meant only building a market in MyTown, USA, lots of people could have the same idea. They were separated by physical geography.

One lady we met was just to the point of going full-time on eBay, leaving her job at a bank. She`d found that people really liked a certain type of crystal, and she had access to enough garage sales, flea markets, auctions, and estate sales, that she could build an inventory.

We focused continually on coming up with "something" that nobody else had. It had to be cheap to make, readily understandable, and priced to sell initially on eBay where people are looking for a deal. It took some time, lots of brainstorming, but we did eventually figure out our niche.

I like toys and collectibles. I also do not have the time or expirence to write a magazine. I am just looking hard to find something I can do besides Web Design that has to do with making money.

Dalex, my son has been trying to sell stuff off eBay for many months, off and on, but he`s not making a profit.  Typically sells for less (bidding) than what I originally paid for it.  What he`s offering is usually Horror type movies but also has Horror masks that he made.  Very well done too, I might ad.  In fact if anybody who`s reading this is interested in seeing the Horror masks my son has created just send me an email via SuN.

Good luck Dalex.
