Do i need to use seo to get more clients or can i use more traditional methods such as advertising, social media etc.

SEO takes time whereas advertising takes money. All depends on how much of each you are willing to spend. You can signup for Bing and Google webmaster tools and get free credits towards advertising to test it out and see how it works for you before you actually spend any of your own money.

GraphicDesigner1 don't waste time with SEO. Yes, SEO is great when you rank in the top 3, but that takes a ton of work. Look at other forms of marketing:

1) Email: You should be building a contact list and emailing at least once a week. Try mailchimp.com, it's free.

2) Social Media: It's free and there's no limit to your success here. My advice:

- Start by focusing on just one (1) social network. YouTube, Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn

- Provide interesting or helpful information, be consistent, and most importantly, be social!

3) Networking: This is an old school way of marketing but let me tell you, you'll land the $50K deals networking and you'll land the $500 deals doing internet marketing.

i agree with the above poster SEO work has become too tough and you will be too old when you target such keywords its better if you work on social media and email marketing ..!

You can take SEO and social media services both.It would be handy to take advantage of both.

According to my perception, it would be a good step to choose SEO to promote your website and to get more clients. Nowadays, online presence is necessary for every business to be a successful business.
