multiple quotes?

Is there some trick to getting the system to recognize multiple quotes in the same post? Every time I try to do this it treats everything up to the final close-quote tag as one long quote, regardless of how many close-quote tags come before it.

...or perhaps it`s a ploy to try to force us Macsters to the dark side? j/k!
