About George Duran
Born and raised in Venezuela, Duran attended New York University, majoring in Communications Studies. It was there where he began to pursue his interests of television and radio production. In 2000, Duran moved into the TV world, working in production on the popular MTV show, House of Style. From there he moved to the Latin music television station, HTV, where from Miami he hosted shows such as the Top 21 Videos of 2001 and Pachanga!
2002 proved to be an important year for Duran. He decided to move to Paris, France and pursue his other interest – food. Duran attended culinary school in France at the Ecole Superieure de Cuisine Francaise Groupe Ferrandi. In 2005 Duran began hosting one of Food Network’s popular shows, Ham on the Street, where he demonstrated his astute interviewing and culinary skills. The show’s comedic content appealed to the network’s core audience but most importantly brought in an unprecedented amount of younger viewers to the network’s lineup.
Duran’s culinary interests lie in French, Armenian and South American cuisines. He currently lives in Brooklyn, NY.
