Episode Spotlight
Creating products that appeal to kids, but are handy for the parents
is no easy task. The founders of Boon, Inc. have done just that.
Rebecca Finell and Ryan Fernandez stopped by StartupNation Radio to
share their story of finding a need and filling it with practicality
and a contemporary style. One of their products is a frog pod that
looks to kids like a bath toy but in reality is a cleaning device. The
parents who are trying to create a germ-free environment use this
product to scoop up the bath toys for easy cleaning.
Rebecca used her industrial design degree to design an appealing
aesthetic that would be easy to sell to major retail chains, and Boon
based their marketing strategy on this effort. After banging on many
doors, the Boon line was picked up by Target. Creating an image that
is cohesive throughout the line gives their products credibility and
has led to millions in revenue.
Listen in to learn more about Boon, and how you can effectively create and market products to meet a growing need.
