Learn about the top 5 technology products that can be game-changing for your small business

Steve Krasnick, a guru from Huntington Technologies, stops by StartupNation to talk about the key tech products that every small business owner needs.

  1. Software. Anti virus, anti spy and firewall programs are important for protecting your system. Also, there is software that aids in efficiency by preventing viruses and pop-ups.
  2. A Server. First, ask yourself these questions: How many users do you have? How much data are you managing? Are you a tech-driven business? Answering these questions can help you determine if a server is right for you. If it is, you can access your business from anywhere.
  3. A handheld device. There are so many options out there in the area of phones and handhelds. They help you to stay tuned in with your employees and your clients and give you multi-function access 24/7.
  4. On-line data vault. This is a fancy name for an online backup and recovery system for the data your business is storing. It eliminates the headache of losing valuable information, which could be detrimental to your business.
  5. CRM. Customer Relationship Management software, or contact management software, is a system in which you can enter all your contacts and manage all correspondence. It allows you to track the activities of your employees and optimize customer relationships.

A combination of these 5 products can be obtained for under 10K and, most importantly, can minimize loss.

This is all well and good, if you`re a large corporation with plenty of money to toss around. What important technology do we need if we`re in the real wo...

I think I would add data backup to your list of must have technologies.  How long can your business lose access to your business applications before you go out of business?

When I think of "must-haves" for a business, I consider "the business" to be a sub-set of running a computer in general. So for example, I wouldn`t consider a modem to be a must-have. Nor would I consider a keyboard, or scanner, in terms of hardware. I wouldn`t consider Windows or OS-X a "must have," because all these are critical to running the computer in the first place. In my opinion, anyone running a computer "must have" a backup system in place, regardless of if they`re also running ...
