Find a need and fill it. All my life I've heard that was the key to
business success. About 10 years ago my wife was diagnosed with Celiac
disease. She can't eat anything made with wheat, barley, rye or most
oats. It is a protein called gluten in these grains that is the
problem. Unfortunately, much of the gluten-free food on the market
tasted pretty bad. Over time we came to realize that there was a niche
market here. If only someone could make gluten-free food that tasted as
good as "real" food. When we started our business we set out to make
gluten-free food that tasted great. Since I don't have to eat
gluten-free, I'm the first line taste tester. We've gotten excellent
feedback from customers. It's very satisfying to hear people say that
they love our products.
Until we're able to secure national distribution, online is the only
way to get our cookies outside our Southern Michigan test market area.
If you have a friend or family member who must eat gluten-free, our
cookies would be a real treat for them.
