My formal training includes courses in journalism, creative writing, technical writing and report writing. I've also received training in drafting budget proposals for small organizations.
My first actual writing gig though was as a stringer for two newspapers. I also had articles published in national magazines. I've since drafted employee job descriptions, training guides, budget proposals and emergency response protocols. Further, I was responsible for reviewing and assuring the accuracy of police and security reports before they were processed. I was also the author of several emergency response programs.
I am now expanding further into the writing field. I've started by taking over a weekly column for a local newspaper. I am also looking to develop more of my own projects or collaborate on projects.
