Hooray for Books "Creative Classes Where Kids Look, Cook & Devour Good Books!" was started in my basement in 2001 while I was on maternity leave with my 3rd.
Hooray for Books® offers weekly classes aimed at turning "regular" children into AVID READERS! By combining four things I am passionate about: humor, children, cooking & reading I was able to whip up a very unique, yet educational program for kids. Each drop-off class offers a new theme with funny literature, an unconventional cooking activity and reading based games; all taught by a wacky teacher dressed like the theme! I always say… the kids at HFB will never forget the long O sound because we make homemade dOnuts! Our whimsical and comfortable atmosphere lends itself to learning, fun and ultimately, a positive attitude towards books.

Our secret ingredient? We use humor (by the cupful) to make the lessons and learning come to life so that each student leaves with a delicious and lasting memory of the lesson and the learning! All this while mom/dad takes advantage of 90+ minutes of useable time each week!
I hope to win the Leading Moms in Business competition because after 9 years of adding more classes to the mix, then birthday parties, then summer camps (and 5 kids later) I am franchising HFB. I look forward to winning the contest to take advantage of other professionals who can offer me business experience, marketing help and support!
