Contestant's Case to Win

My name is Laura White-Ritchie. I have a personal mission to help you create a home-based income that allows you to the freedom to work-from-home and leave the rat race forever. I am a micro business specialist and I bring families together through business ownership.

Your micro business might be self-employment or any business that has less than 5 employees. For the last ten years, I’ve worked to help people get out of the office, create the work they love and start living life on their own terms. I’ll help you decide if your business or non-profit idea is feasible, develop a business plan, carve a market niche and tap into social media. I do this through micro-business mentoring, public speaking, one-on-one & group training.

Well, first of all, I’ve been where you are. Going to a job everyday when every single fiber of your being is pulling you a different direction. It’s miserable. Finding a path to quitting your day job…you know, that thing that provides the income for the roof and the food. Finding the guts to cut the ties when all of the preparations are in place. I know what you’re feeling, because I’ve been there. And now, I’m here.

I also have had a LOT of experience working with micro-entrepreneurs. I’ll bring all of that to the table. And, I’ve been told that I’m bit of a rarity. I’m just as comfortable in that left brainy puzzle solving mode as I am with my right brainy creative side. Apparently, this is uncommon. Maybe I’m a superhero. I fly in and help people turn their ideas into incomes that give them the freedom and confidence to quit their day jobs. My mantra could be, “Go home! I’ll show you the way.” (oooh, that sounds kinda creepy, in a Donnie Darko kinda way!)

A Few Official Credentials

* I hold an MBA with a concentration on Entrepreneurship, a Bachelors degree in Organizational Management, a minor in Marketing and an Associate degree in Computer Science.
* I developed a nationally replicated program for the YWCA USA while working with the YWCA in Anchorage, Alaska as the state’s only Women’s Business Center (funded by the U.S. Small Business Development Center).
* I launched the Alaska Microenterprise Incubation Center, the state’s first shared-use office space and support center for start up micro-entrepreneurs.
* I’ve assisted over 275 micro- and small business owners with their business plans, marketing strategy and just motivation/focus.
* I was selected as one of the Top 40 Alaskan Business Peeps Under 40 way back in 2006.
* I won the 2007 Alaska Business Plan Competition.

A "Well Blended" community: I am developing a community designed for the millions of parents that are home employed and home educating their children. The people in this community have made the unique decision not to pursue that elusive “balanced” life. That concept can be frustrating and polarizing since people tend to develop home versions and work/school versions of themselves. These families want to lead “well blended” lives. I want this website to be a resource for the this community to find the help and information they need to succeed. They’ll have the opportunity to meet other families around the country and in their area. They can share information, make life-long friends and valuable business connections, trade skill sets, collaborate on projects, travel around the country to meet each other, organize exciting field trips and more!
