Contestant's Case to Win

This is based on the number of votes received and does not reflect the quality of the business or chances of winning.
If I had a penny for every time someone tells me ‘You have your hands full’ I wouldn’t need to start my own business because I’d be rich! The reason they say this is partly due to the fact that I have my own company but mainly because I am also the mother of six year old triplet boys.

When my family and I moved to Williamsburg, Virginia five years ago we needed to find a part-time nanny to help us with the boys and were surprised to find that the area didn’t have a nanny agency. I made a mental note to start one when the boys reached a suitable age.

That time came in March 2008. After spending a year planning and researching I launched the Williamsburg Nanny Agency and started helping families find professional and trustworthy nannies. Due to a drop in our family income at the time I was faced with the challenge of starting a business from scratch with very little to invest. What I did have was a huge amount of determination and a very strong belief that my idea would take off. It was and still is a very exciting feeling.

Now two years and three hundred happy clients later I am proud to say that I have a well-known, successful business. Every day I am constantly looking at new ways to improve it by adding value for our clients and growing the company to new heights. I have big plans!

I think I should be considered winner of the Leading Moms in Business Competition because I am a good example to other women who want to start their own business despite the odds. Having children and lack of funds shouldn’t stop you if you have a great idea. It is every reason to go for it!
