Mamabargains.com launched in May of 2008 based on the principle that moms deserve to spoil themselves and their kids, without paying a high price to do so. We offer one deal at a time on high end mom, kid and baby items (and occasionally daddy items too!), all at least 50% off their retail prices. We launch deals all day long, all night long, 365 days a year - cool huh?!
We have days where packaging at the warehouse takes until 3 am - and we finally have accomplished what seemed such a far reach in the beginning - a warehouse space with over 4,000 sq ft of awesome products, and an office with a current staff of now 15 total employees. Thank you MB fans!
Before the launch of Mamabargains.com, we met with a professional, the owner of a similar website with a similar structure, but our plan was to target a different audience than he had, and the idea was one that he absolutely LOVED! After looking at our business plan, he gave us that last nudge we needed to get the plans that had been residing in our heads into action and make this idea of Mamabargains.com a reality!
Timing had never been our best suit; when we finally took the plunge to launch Mamabargains.com, we had a 2 year old and a 4 month old baby in tow. Really, what better time than a crazy hectic time - don't we all perform better under pressure anyway?!
Entrepreneurial spirit came when I was about 8 years old. Dad made me a balance beam, he even covered it in orange shag carpet for me (thanks dad!) to help with the all too often falls (dad also taught me that when you fall, always get back up and be persistent, eventually you will get it right). Okay, so 8 years old and I recruited all the neighbor kids to join 'Jessica's gymnastics camp'. I would take what I had learned at gymnastics class every week and teach all the neighbor kids. Thinking back, what great times those were! No payroll to think about, no bookkeepers, no accountant, just laid back kid fun. I was a kidpreneuer! Next, I started a babysitters club. Same thing, different age. A group of girls that would babysit for neighbors, friends, friends of friends, anyone who needed a babysitter, we were there! Of course, that idea came from the book series, but I was proud of myself for actually moving forward with it and making a success out of it. Success back then was enough extra money to go to the movie and buy the big daddy of popcorn buckets, which at the time cost a whopping $2.50!
Moving ahead in time about 17 years, I was enjoying a blustery cold night in Salt Lake City, hanging at a local music joint listening to the latest in blue grass grooves. This was the night I met my then best friend, and my now best friend and husband - a man with true entrepreneurial spirit, spunk, and a fire that I have grown to love more every day. We have always felt that no matter what the obstacle, we would overcome, and we would be a success so that our children could someday be proud to call us their parents.
Mamabargains.com is a business that we want to share with every parent in the world. Sounds silly, maybe, but I feel very strongly that every parent should know that there is a company out there that works very hard every single day to pass as much of our own savings onto you as possible. This is the business we are in, giving to you, what we work so hard to obtain - awesome deals on otherwise hard to find on discount items. Mamabargains.com, I feel confident in saying, almost 2 years later, has the staying power and the drive to become the company you rely on and trust to bring you awesome deals, fantastic customer service, and a commitment to our customers to always do our best to give you what a lot of larger companies have lost sight of - honesty, integrity, and passion.
I really do feel an immense sense of pride for this company and the people who work here. I am proud of what has been commonly been referred to as the Singer's 3rd child, Mamabargains.com.
When our customers shop our site, they know that they are shopping at a company who was started by a husband and wife team, who is still run by a husband and wife team, and a company whose core energy comes from a group of employees that truly feel a sense of ownership when they come to work everyday.
This website is for the parents of the world, and all that I personally do every day is for the feeling of helping parents by giving them the fantastic bargains at rock bottom prices, and making it fun while they are doing so! It is quite addictive (there is even a group on the playground called Mamabargains.com anonymous!)
Whether it is on our own playground (the Mamabargains.com forum)or on our Facebook fan page or Twitter, MB'ers (a group of moms that are Mamabargains.com loyal regulars who often refer to themselves as 'MB'ers) have built relationships with each other, with our staff, and all for the simple reality that Mamabargains.com is not just a shopping site, it is a community that works hard to be an integral part of it's own local community, a part of our customers lives, even if just in a small way. A company that will give attention to detail in a way that large companies have truly forgotten.
