Contestant's Case to Win

This is based on the number of votes received and does not reflect the quality of the business or chances of winning.
I founded the Welcome Committee in 1998 when my children were 1, 4 and 5 years old. It seemed like the perfect part time job which quickly morphed into full time work. I hired 9 other "moms" to help handle the demand. Today we personally visit up to 185 newcomer households monthly in three NC counties.

Welcome Committee is a personalized, cost-effective word-of-mouth marketing service that targets newcomers & new home buyers in the north Charlotte-Lake Norman region. Our friendly introductions pair new consumers who have no buying loyalties, with civic, business & professional services to help them form relationships and encourage them to "shop local."

More recently, we launched an Event Marketing service as an additional revenue stream. We represent our advertising sponsors at Health Fairs, Trade Shows, Business Expos, BNI, etc. as an extension of their sales & marketing team. Many of our sponsors are too busy to network during regular business hours because they are seeing patients or clients, so we do the networking for them to help build their customer base!

As an added value, we promote our clients newsworthy events through writing & distributing press releases to the appropriate media outlets for greater exposure & ROI.

I blueprinted the Welcome Committee business model in a book "Home-Based Business: The Complete Guide to Owning & Operating a Successful Welcome Service Business" so that others could start a similar business in their communities.

I would love to be considered a "Leading Mom in Business" as I've walked the tight rope trying to balance raising three kids, a growing business and my volunteer work concurrently. Thank you for your consideration.
