I have no formal training...unless you count the amount of consumption I have had in my 40 years with sweet treats! My story is a little out of the ordinary...okay A Lot!

I was a Doctorate student in Clinical Psychology when I became pregnant with my little girl. I was beyond elated about this...I was becoming the doctor I wanted to be and the mother I dreamt of being...so Perfect!

My daughter, Savvy, was born and we soon learned that she was very sick. She was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia. To make a long story short...she was listed for a liver transplant at the age of 4 months. It is the most heartbreaking thing you can ever imagine but my Warrior Princess fought ... she fought for 8 long months and was finally granted her “Gift of Life” through an organ transplant.

One day after Savvy’s transplant I sat down to give her one of her many medications and flipped through the channels and stopped on the Martha Stewart show. I saw a delightful woman making these adorable little cakes on a stick called cake pops. Her name was Angie Dudley better known as “Bakerella”. I don’t know why but I sent her an email just minutes after her segment asking if she could create a cake pop in honor of my daughter’s donor angel and to bring awareness to Organ Donation. I shared Savannah’s story in this email and my disbelief that at 4 months my daughter had pediatric end stage liver disease and was given a number that “estimates” that time she has to live because without a transplant there was no hope for her to reach her 2nd birthday. She waited along with over 100,000 others fighting and suffering….and we knew that her chances of receiving a “Gift” of an organ transplant was slim because 1 in 3 pass away simply waiting and here we had a baby…

To my surprise, Angie called me a few days later. I shared our story and then she shared that she was a recipient of a kidney transplant. She was kind enough to create “Pops for a Purpose” - http://www.bakerella.com/pops-for-a-purpose/

I decided to go back to work. I needed to go to a job where my boss would understand my unique circumstances. One that understood my passion and dedication and would not question my odd hours. One that simply took me at my word that things would get done because creating a beautiful dessert buffet gives me pleasure and doesn’t stress me out. Once you have a child fighting for their life you understand stress and making beautiful pieces with sugar that will bring joy to others well that is simply a blessing! I could only find one person to meet that criteria and that person was myself.

I have created a wonderful company Savvylicious Sweets … yes named after my daughter, Savvy, because she is Delicious! I have created our “Cause Pops” in honor of the gift that Angie Dudly gave us with “Pops for a Purpose” and as a way to pay it forward. I have created a company with a heart and a mission to pay it forward for we have already received the Ultimate Gift....and the best part....our Sweets are truly {Savvylicious}!
