Contestant's Case to Win

This is based on the number of votes received.
Curtains Up! Theatre Company is a long time dream in the works. We are currently in the start up stages, looking for investors and a place to call our theatre home. We hope to have our first semi professional production by the end of 2013.

I grew up in Jonesborough the oldest town in Tennessee and have always loved historic towns and acting. When I was a teenager, we moved a few short miles away to Johnson City and lived in the historic Tree Streets. My parents and I would always drive through historic downtowns and pick out these great old buildings that would make a unique theatre space. As I got older, finished college and worked professionally for a small dinner theatre in the area, the dream stayed with me to someday open my own intimate theatre company.

Fast forward to now - I live in a beautiful historic town in Northern Virginia and for the last 9 years or so I've always said that it would be great to open my dream theatre company in this wonderful town. I work full time and have put this dream on hold until now. I have a degree in theatre and have worked with various community and professional theatre companies over the years as an actor, director, teacher, stage manager, etc. This is my passion!

Curtains Up! Theatre Company will be a thriving dinner theatre providing delicious food and quality theatre in the evening. We will have a "Brown Bag" Lunch Program for students and look forward to working with our local school systems to provide live theatre to our children during the day. We plan to provide a nurturing, creative environment for all those who work with us, whether being an Actor on stage or the Box Office Manager. Curtains Up! will be involved with the community and give back to local business. We will explore classics, contemporary, mysteries and more!

My goal is simply to share my love of the theatre with the community that I live in and be a part of our thriving historic town - all the while living my dream, showing my son the importance of following that dream and having the independence to be there for him.
