Population today, will account for 30 percent in 2050. Ethnic and racial minorities living in the USA are disproportionately burdened with disease morbidity and mortality. The CDC reports that death due to heart disease is more than 40% higher for African-Americans, American Indians, and Alaskan natives than that of Whites.

Hispanics are almost twice as likely to die from diabetes. Without adequate representation of these populations in clinical trials, researchers cannot learn about the potential differences among groups, nor ensure all medical treatments and therapies are reliable, valid, and generalizable across various
ages, genders, races and ethnicities.
