Contestant's Case to Win

This is based on the number of votes received.
My name is Dr. Marcy Street, Founder and Medical Director of Doctor’s Approach Dermatology. Simply put, my story is that of a mother wanting to pursue her dreams and make her mother and children proud. I have followed my heart and have been able to raise two beautiful daughters in the process. Doctor’s Approach Dermatology has become more than just a practice or a clinic. It is something that I am very passionate about and have dedicated to the field. There is no better way to give back, than to improve the health of others. It also showed me that dreams can come true, with hard work and focus.

Having been raised by two parents who were teachers, education was emphasized in the home. My mother was the first of thirteen siblings to attend college and graduate school, I learned at an early age the meaning of determination. I have always been taught to excel and dream big, which is a legacy I wanted to pass on to my daughters.

In 1994, Doctor’s Approach Dermatology was founded in East Lansing, MI. Almost 20 years later, Doctor’s Approach has grown from a once solo practice to three leading divisions in health care. We now have a full service skin care clinic, the only mid-Michigan Medspa over seen by a dermatologist and an award-winning skincare line. With a staff of 16, including 4 dermatologists, a physicians assistant and licensed estheticians, Doctor’s Approach Dermatology is well established and respected, attracting patients from all over the nation, including Canada. I have the privilege of being quoted in national magazines as a skin care expert, be an educational resource for the Skin Cancer Foundation, and recently discussed a cutting edge skin cancer prevention technique called the Blu-light on the CBS show, “The Doctors”.

All of my success could not have been accomplished without the support I received as a young adult. My determination was fueled because of others selfless acts, which is why I value service and giving back to my community, something that is very dear to my heart. I have mentored medical students to motivate them to achieve their highest potential. I want my girls to understand that, not only does lifting others up feel good, it is the right thing to do. They mentor high school children from inner city Chicago while studying at Northwestern University. Having come from that background, I feel my journey has come full circle.

As a single parent, my two daughters are the driving force behind my success. Although it has not been easy over the years growing a business and raising children, I can say the journey has been an exciting and fulfilling one. My daughters challenge me, keep me up to date and explore new adventures with me. I am inspired by them daily. Of all my accomplishments, they are at the top of my list. Having two daughters that are pre-med, at a school like Northwestern University, is any parents dream come true.

Thank you for your attention, support and your votes!
