StartupNation would like to congratulate all of the amazing mom-owned businesses that participated in this year’s competition.

1st Place - Grand Prize!

Goat Milk Stuff

Goat Milk Stuff

PJ Jonas is a homeschooling mom of eight children. She is also the founder of Goat Milk Stuff, which makes goat milk soap with the milk from their own dairy goats. The family’s adventures into soapmaking originated in 2006 out of PJ’s desire to not use chemicals on the children’s skin.

All of the children play an age appropriate role in the business - from milking the goats, to bagging the soap, to packaging the orders, to answering the phones. While the children are learning the benefits of working hard, Goat Milk Stuff’s customers are receiving a product that helps their dry and sensitive skin or skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, acne or rosacea.

The company has grown tremendously in the past four years, having made over 350,000 bars of soap and having been featured on the "TODAY" show, "The Doctors" and in “O”, The Oprah magazine.

Mama Baretta

Mama Baretta

Baking is in Debra Baretta’s genes. Mama Baretta's father was an immigrant baker from Italy, and she worked in his bakeries as a teenager. When her son was diagnosed with multiple food allergies, including wheat, gluten, soy, eggs, peanuts, garlic, lentils & green peas, it broke her heart to see him isolated from others at school, parties, and family functions. She was determined to make her son, healthy organic, delicious tasting baked goods that everyone could enjoy and share together while bringing back some of the traditional Italian foods she grew up with.

Mama Baretta is an organic baking company specializing in food sensitivities. They make award-winning baked goods that are endorsed by nutritionists as well as medical doctors. The company also donates a portion of proceeds to the Council on Aging for the Meals on Wheels Program in their local community.

3rd Place

Ittavi

Ittavi

Ittavi was founded by Sheri Atwood, a single mom, and Lorena Chiu, a mother of two. Ittavi seeks to end child support conflict by providing parents an expense management and bill payment application for child support.

Globally there are over 298 million parents who are exchanging over $990 billion dollars every year in child support. However, there is not a standard process or system to enable parents to manage this emotional and conflict-ridden process. Since child support is not just a single monthly payment but also a broad collection of shared expenses, parents must continually manage, communicate and negotiate over child related expenses. The entire process is complex, time-consuming and stressful. Ittavi seeks to eliminate child support conflict and enable collaboration between parents with an easy to use online application. Parents can now spend less time managing child support and more time focused on raising happy, healthy children.
