Contestant's Case to Win
This is based on the number of votes received. My business should win based on the transformation that it made in my life and in the lives of others.
I had to leave an 18 year banking career due to debilitating hand surgeries- I was not allowed to return to the only career I knew. I did not have a college degree and with limited employment options I turned to my hobby as an herbalist and successfully opened a local retail store specializing in herbs and teas- with a two year old and a new disability.
During that time, if things could get worse- I became divorced and managed to not only reinvent myself- but my business as well. Through my own personal struggles and success with the transitions I faced, I began encouraging other women to become self sustaining through self employment. Many cottage industries were successfully inspired.
Through these many major personal transitions- I had to survive- I was the sole support of my son and refused to sacrifice my role as a Mom. I made sure I was able to keep my son with me and he thrived. Today he is one of the most compassionate and worldly 12 year olds I know.
I now inspire individuals and corporations through A Village- Personal and Spiritual Development programs. Teaching the basics of service, balance, peace and cohesiveness in the workplace and at home- that one shoud not be sacrificed for the other.
I also believe that Service through volunteerism is paramount to success; and A Village employs a philanthropic mission. This 'paying it forward philosophy' allows my business to return it’s good fortune by giving back to my community through support of local non profits.
I create workshops and seminars focused on women's empowerment. These free events are performed where women need inspiration- from post prison release programs, transitional rehabilitation from drug and alcohol dependency; to clubs and other groups. People need motivation and empowerment through compassion, love and understanding in order to rise.
I hope to be the winning recipient through your contest. I can then continue to bring a message of hope to our changing world- one person at a time...
