Contestant's Case to Win
This is based on the number of votes received.Jeanne Fitzmaurice has learned that “when passion and purpose collide magical things can happen.” On the day she decided to create an internet site for her personalized stationery, she received the heartbreaking news that her friend Janis had been diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer. This echoed the sad news of Fitzmaurice’s cousin, two years prior. Fitzmaurice discovered how limited resources are for Stage IV compared to early stages, and dreamed of designing a company to empower and celebrate women, while raising awareness and funding for Stage IV breast cancer patients.
Jeanne founded the Gal to Gal Foundation – the first non-profit where 100% of its proceeds go to Stage IV breast cancer patients. Simultaneously, Jeanne launched Design-her Gals (Designhergals.com) – a fun, addictive website where you can create a virtual likeness (Gal or Guy) and produce it onto personalized stationery and gifts. DHG dedicates 5% of gross sales to the Foundation, has currently granted over $150,000 for wishes to Stage IV patients, and sponsors educational programs specifically for advanced stage patients, their families and health care teams.
Design-her Gals’ engaging website sheds light on a serious topic in a fun and whimsical way. Oprah called it addictive when she tapped Design-her Gals as one of her favorite things on the O List. In addition to traditional hairstyles and designer outfits – Gals can wear head scarves, or no hair, as well as shirts with cancer-supportive sayings such as “Got Cure?” Gal to Gal Foundation is supported by the Design-her Gals growing community (250,000+) and unique projects such as a “Virtual Walk,” a celebrity-endorsed fundraiser featuring animated Gals on changing city scapes.
Design-her Gals recognizes the difficult times our nation is facing at this time and is dedicating itself in 2009 to introducing innovative products and programs that allow women to empower themselves to rebrand themselves and stand out within the work force or within their business field.
