Contestant's Case to Win

The Sitting Room is a home furnishings retail store and interior design studio. We offer stylish home furnishings and gifts in a very unique setting. Our business is located in a 1950's farm house; as an interior designer my unique space allows me to showcase my design work, as a mom it allows me an extra room upstairs for my two year old to take her nap and a full kitchen for her lunch.

In February 2007, my husband and I packed up our two daughters and moved to Mount Pleasant, South Carolina to open The Sitting Room. This has been a huge family adventure ever since we first arrived, when we would drive around at night with the girls sleeping in their car seats looking for retail space. We found our location and were up and running within six months of our move from Los Angeles.

The Sitting Room is my home way from home, as well as my daughters who are thrilled to spend an afternoon at the store "helping" me. I am building a business that hopefully one day will be handed down to a new generation of women entrepreneurs, my daughters. As it stands at the moment, they would specify pink tulle curtains with pink sparkly paint, but we've got some time.
