Contestant's Case to Win

This is based on the number of votes received.
Mamabargains.com launched in May of 2008 based on the principle that moms deserve to spoil themselves and their kids, without paying the high pricetags to do so. We offer one deal at a time for high end mom, kid and baby products all at least 50% off their retail prices. We launch deals all day long, and have days where packaging at the warehouse takes until 3 am - we have finally accomplished what seemed such a far reach in the beginning - an average of at least 100 orders a day. The average is growing, and most days we reach near at least 200 with many days of the week where our daily order totals reach well over 300 - lots of work for a little mom owned joint! Well worth it, though!

Before our launch, we met with a professional, the owner of Backcountry.com, steepandcheap.com, whiskeymilitia.com, tramdock.com, chainlove.com, brociety.com and a slew of others - he gave us that last nudge we needed to move forward with the idea we had been toying with for over a year. He took one look at our business plan and said, 'I love it, I cant WAIT to see what you are going to do with it, this is a fantastic idea!'

Timing had never been right, we had just moved to Utah, so life seemed super fast paced already, that adding a new business to the mix would have been out of the question! Then we were pregnant with number two, who was born in January of 2008. We finally decided to move forward with the idea that had been floating around in our brains for so long, and make it reality...with a newborn and a toddler in tow. Along came Mamabargains.com.

Entrepreneurial spirit - that came when I was about 8. Gymnastics camp. Dad made me a balance beam, covered it with carpet (you know, to soften the often falls!) I took it upon myself to recruit all the neighbor kids into coming over for $2 bucks to go to 'Jessica's gymnastics camp'. I would take what I learned at camp every weekend and teach the neighbors. Thinking back, what great times those were! No payroll to think about, no bookkeepers, no accountant (it's that time of year!) well, just laid back kid fun. I was a kidpreneuer! Next - I started a babysitters club. Same thing different age. A group of girls that would babysit for neighbors, friends, friends of friends, anyone who needed a babysitter, we were there! Of course, that idea came from the book series, but I was proud of myself for actually moving forward with it and making a success out of it! Success back then was enough extra money to go to the movie and buy the big daddy of popcorn buckets - the $2.50 bucket!

So from those days, I was enjoying a blustery cold night in Salt Lake City, hanging at a local music joint listening to the latest in blue grass grooves, I met my then best friend, now best friend and husband - a man with true entrepreneurial spirit - so together, we have always felt that no matter what the obstacle, we would overcome, and we would be a success.

Our idea didn't have a name until a few weeks before our meeting with the owner of Backcountry.com, we scheduled our meeting with him about 2 months out, and began trying to put a name on the concept we wanted to offer to moms all over the world...then it hit us....Mamabargains.com. It has true staying power, as in hearing the name, you have a good idea of what it is we do. Please keep in mind that it has taken me months now to feel such a sense of pride for this company and what we do to feel comfortable talking highly of our success and what it is that we are accomplishing. I learned this several months ago, to be proud of those pieces of our life that are now considered our third child, our mamabargains.com.

A few months ago, I signed up for Ladies Who Launch - within that incubator series, I met some fantastic moms, business owners, and women who embodied such a sense of integrity, emotion and successes, that they have quickly become close friends of mine. It truly is amazing what you find when you are not looking for it. This group of women showed me that I'm not just a stay at home mama business owner, but a stay at home mom successful business owner.

We now rent a 2000 sq ft warehouse here in Salt Lake City, employ 4 warehouse employees, a customer service employee, a bookkeeper, our accountant, team of lawyers and our full time programmer. We have built this family on top of our own family and for me, I bubble over with pride knowing that the words 'economic downturn' or 'our current economic status' are words escaping me, words that are not a part of our vocabulary anymore. We feel honored, blessed and incredibly fortunate to have built the right company at the right time, and with the right goal at heart. Moms. Dads. Kids. Anyone who knows a mom or a dad or a kid - which is a huge chunk of not just the U.S. population, but of the world as a whole. We are, in even the smallest way, helping to boost the economy, even just a tad bit.

This website is for the moms, and all that I do every day is for the feeling of helping parents by giving them fantastic deals at rock bottom prices, and making it fun while they are doing so! It's quite addictive, and our moms have built such fantastic relationships with each other (check out our playground within our website), that I truly feel they love shopping our site for the great customer service, the knowledge that a mama is up late in some warehouse in Salt Lake City packaging her order to ensure it ships out quickly, and for the reassurance that they are shopping a reputable company that wants to be an integral part of its community, and a part of our customers' lives, even if just in a small way. A company that gives attention to detail in a way that many larger companies have lost sight of. Launching in May of 2008 has brought over 30 million page views, and an array of mamas (and papas) that want to be a part of Mamabargains.com and who we have began building personal relationships with. I would love the opportunity to share with you the road to our company's success and how we are continuing to move forward, loving every minute of this experience and what it hopefully does for you, our customers, and how rewarding it has been and continues to be for us.

Mamas make Mamabargains.com. Their requests, their orders, their enjoyment at hitting that refresh button, 'just one more time before they go to bed', Thank you mamas for being kick butt supporters and for giving us this opportunity - you rule!
