Contestant's Case to Win
This is based on the number of votes received. The Younique Boutique was launched in 2001 by me, Brina, and my mom, Ruthie. Artists and craftspeople all our lives, we always used to say to each other, "I wish there was a way to make a living making stuff!" We started like a lot of business, with about $200 in the bank and working out of the family garage. Now, we have grown to a full-time staff of 5 employees and we work near home in a 2,500 square foot building.
Our concept in simple yet hard to find - we create custom, personalized gifts for special occasions. Everything we make is made to order for our cherished customers. We put a lot of heart into every order and it shows.
Our most popular products are our:
Photo Quilts - a soft and cuddly handmade throw sized quilt with up to 45 treasured family photos permanently transferred.
Signature Guest Book Platters - A large ceramic platter is hand painted with your choice of adorable design, personalized with names and dates of any special event. Guests are asked to sign the platter with a special marker to create a food and dishwasher safe keepsake.
Custom Wedding Cake Toppers - Sculpted to look like the bride and groom (anniversary couple, birthday boy/girl, etc.) using submitted photographs. We can create custom poses, clothing and accessories, too.
Along with those products, we highlight other talented stay-at-home mom crafters and artisans. For instance, we sell custom made tiaras and headpieces from a mom in New Jersey and custom made diaper bags from another mom in Kern County, California.
Running a successful business and raising a young family is challenging to say the least but I am proud of the way we have built our family run business. My husband Gus works alongside my mother and me. When our first child, Ryder, arrives in June 2009, I am happy that he will be able to come to work with me and have a protective and creative environment to grow up in.
