Owner & Chief Style Officer Holly Bretschneider opened her first store in 2002, after spending 10 years as the Vice President & General Counsel of a health plan in Northern California. Having been bitten by the entrepreneurial bug, and after spending six months preparing a business plan, she decided to turn her love for design and paper into a retail business. Her Chapel Hill store has earned the Best New Business Award from the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce and was voted the Best Gift & Stationery Store by Citysearch users. In 2006, she opened her second location in Charlotte, North Carolina, which has been awarded the Best Place to Buy Paper Goods by Charlotte Magazine, the Best Gift & Stationery Store by Citysearch users, and the best place for wedding invitations by Bride's Book readers. In 2008, Ms. Bretschneider redesigned her website and launched her online store at www.salutations.com.
Salutations sets itself apart by exceptionally friendly, personal and knowledgeable customer service. Our motto is "Expect the Exceptional!" The boutiques receive rave reviews from customers for their unique and stylish array of products, well-organized and comforting atmosphere, and friendly and helpful staff.
Holly Bretschneider is the proud mother of two wonderful children - a 13-year-old son and an 11-year-old daughter. Both children are very active in competitive swimming and soccer, which requires quite a bit of juggling and teamwork with her fabulous husband and three carpools! Holly epitomizes the "sandwich generation", as she also cares for her mother who lives with her and is battling ovarian cancer, as well as a sister who lives with her and has chronic and disabling migraines. Keeping all of these balls in the air is a challenge, but is made possible by a huge amount of teamwork from everyone in her household and supported by an amazing staff of professional and helpful women at the stores.
