This is based on the number of votes received.Instead of letting the loss of my job send me spiraling into depression, which I've battled for 20 years, I used it to motivate me to start my own business working from home.
As a single mom, I wanted to find a way to be here for my children while still keeping a roof over our heads. After putting in a lot of 16 hour days, I launched my Virtual Assistant business. I struggled for several months before I finally grew my business so much that I am now an Online Business Manager, providing marketing/PR, website design and writing services to my clients.
My biggest motivation for success is to put myself in a position where I can "pay it forward" and help other moms, especially single moms, the way others have helped me.
I recently decided to take on an intern so that I can help another mom achieve her dream of working at home and after this internship is over, not only do I plan on repeating the process with another mom, I will encourage former interns to do the same once they have settled in to their own businesses.
I've struggled for many years with mental illness and spent a lot of years feeling like a failure and a burden. I am hoping to make amends to both my loved ones and to the system by being successful as well as giving another woman a hand UP (not a hand OUT) who may be dealing with those same issues.
