Crescent Moon Designs specializes in Book Interior and Book Cover Designs. I started working on books and manuscripts in 1985 while employed full-time and raising two children.
One of my first books was the "Biographical Directory of National Librarians" authored by F.L. Carroll and P.J. Schwartz, published by Mansell Publishing. In 1994, I began working on scientific journal articles, textbooks and manuscripts.
Two notable books that I worked on are "Analytical Fluid Dynamics, 2nd Edition" authored by George Emanuel, published by CRC Press in 2000, and "Reservoir Formation Damage, Fundamentals, Modeling, Assessment, and Mitigation" authored by Faruk Civan, Gulf Professional Publishing in 2000. Each book totaled over 800 pages, hand-typed from hand-written pages, and contained close to 1000 equations and numerous graphic images.
With no professional design or typographical layout training, I typed, edited, formatted and designed over 60 publications. Some had pre-designed templates available in an electronic file; however, I designed the majority of the layout for the contents using a book sample.
In the spring of 2008, I designed my own website (again with no professional training) and launched my new business. Immediately after that, I received a request to work on a book; my first one as a business. I designed the book jacket and formatted the contents, which were in German. The result was "Die Kindsmörderin" authored by Helga Stipa Madland, published by BookSurge the summer of 2008.
I am continually learning new design software that will allow me to offer my customers more choices in page layout, and am improving my skills in photographic and image editing. I will also be redesigning my website (for the third time) while I learn new skills in the area of web design, and hope to be able to offer this as one of my services in the near future.
