inventory: from hobby to business

Hello,

I have decided to turn my hobby (primarily jewlery making) into a home-based bnusiness.

How can I go about putting items into inventory which could be part of business expenses for tax purposes?

Also, any advice for putting the jewlery components into a functioning inventory?

Most eCommerce solutions/software include inventory management functionality.
