I am an interior decorator/designer in the process of launching my consulting business & I plan to offer select decorative furnishings & home accesories for purchase, as well, on my site. In my tagline, should I refer to this online shop as an "i-boutique" or an "e-boutique." Any thoughts or suggestions on this?  (When I advertise locally, I wish it to be know that I do not have an actuall "brick & mortar" shop.)

Thanks.......

I think an e-boutique is a effective way to let your customers know that you are online, but yet still keep the boutique connotation. You are not the first to use that term and i think as long as you coordinate your marketing message to this tag line you shouldn't have a problem. I don't think that an i boutique would offer customers the understanding that your site is solely online.

Hope this helps!

How about Etsy? Have you tried that one? It's an online shop where you can post your products.

Galinda,

It really doesn't matter what you call it, your clients don't need to know that you don't have a brick and mortar shop? Your online business is what you want it to be. just make sure you are easy to reach, and that they can contact you any time. Many people get turned off by the idea of e-business... Although, I embrace the term e-business, there are  many people out there having a hard time accepting it..

I hope this helps... let us know what you decided on, and perhaps a link to see your finished product (web site)

I think you somehow downgrade the value in things when you start calling them an i-this and e-that. It's why you can sell a "guide" or "report" for more money than you can an "e-book" or "i-report". If you are marketing locally, just tell them to ...

Your question comes down to a matter of preference. Do you like "e" or "i" better. I personally prefer "i" it sounds hipper and invokes the stylishness of Apple. Something that may play in your favor as an interior designer.
